Door Switch

The door switch is a safety feature in Kenmore dryers that prevents the drum from turning when the door is open. If the dryer continues to turn, the door switch might be faulty. The switch is usually found behind the front panel with the switch sticking into the door opening. You can test the functionality of the switch by first turning off and unplugging your machine. You can test the continuity of the switch through its terminals with a multimeter. Between the “No” and “C” terminals, there should be an infinite amount of Ohms from the multimeter when the door is open or when the button isn’t being pressed. Power is run through the thermostat to keep the drive motor running so you can check the thermostat for continuity using a multimeter. Be sure to only run this test without power from the dryer.

Timer

A defective timer motor or it’s circuits can also cause a Kenmore dryer to not shut off. If one of these parts aren’t working properly, the dryer motor, heat circuit, or timer motor may not be shut off at the right time resulting in the dryer running after the desired time. The contacts can be checked with a multimeter to identify any problems. If the timer is defective, it should be replaced. This test should only be done with the dryer unplugged.

3 Reasons Your Fridge May Be Leaking;

Water Dispenser

If your Kenmore fridge comes equipped with a water dispenser or an ice maker, this is a good place to start. The associated tubing to the water filter, water fill valve, ice maker inlet, and dispenser should be inspected first to ensure they are all water tight.

Remove the screws in the back and top of your dishwasher.

The lower sprayer comes out by unscrewing the middle screw. Once removed, you’ll be able to lift the top cover away. You should have 4 more screws to remove. Typically, 3 are visible, and 1 will be hidden by the sprayer arm. When removing the sprayer arm, be sure to keep the plastic O-ring set aside for later. Don’t lose it!

My Fridge Door Won’t Seal Properly – Step by Step Repair Instructions

So you notice a gap at the top of your fresh food compartment fridge door. It’s allowing warm air to seep through, compromising the cooling capabilities of your unit. It sounds like you’ll need to replace your fridge’s two nylon hinge washers.

What You’ll Need:

Phillips head screwdriver
⅜” nut driver

Here’s how:

First, you will have to remove both hinges. You will have to take the freezer door off to properly access the fridge door.
The hinge cover can simply be popped off. There will be two ⅜” screws holding the hinge in place. Remove these using your screwdriver, but be sure to hold the door in place as you do so.
Once the freezer door has been removed, you can move on to the fridge door hinge. Loosen the screws using a phillips head screwdriver and set both aside. Remove the hinge by lifting up and then remove the fresh food fridge door.
To install the new hinge washer, simply slide them in place over the exposed hinge piece’s pin. Now you can put the door back in place. Ensure that it is resting at the correct height.
Replace the pin and screws for the middle hinge. Fasten the Phillips screw in place.
Install the freezer door. This will require you to line up the door with the hinge pin and lower it into place.
Now you can reinstall the top hinge. Put the pin in the opening, line up the hinge, then secure the two ⅜” screws where they were resting initially.
Once the screws are secured, you can snap the hinge cover back into place. Line it up and push down.
Check for gaps. The fridge door should not be scraping along the bottom of the freezer piece, and no airflow gaps should be visible.
